QUEEN’S PARK – Official Opposition NDP Leader Marit Stiles says the latest lawsuits against private, for-profit long-term care providers should be a wake-up call for Ford’s Conservatives.
“Far too many families lost their loved ones during the pandemic while living in unacceptable, undignified conditions at for-profit long-term care homes.
The Ford government refused to hold bad actors accountable and instead, rewarded them with extensions and funding. These families deserve answers.”
Ontario NDP Critic for Long-Term Care Retirement Homes, and Home Care MPP Wayne Gates (Niagara Falls) added, “Ford's Conservatives continue to support and protect for-profit long term care homes, which had some of the worst records during the pandemic. They have let these companies put profit over the care of our seniors. Why won’t the Ford government do the right thing and hold for-profit bad actors accountable for their record?”
