Catherine Fife MPP, Waterloo

Government of Ontario

About

Catherine is in her fourth term as Member of Provincial Parliament for Waterloo, and she currently serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Finance & Treasury Board, as well as the Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance & Economic Affairs.

For decades, Catherine has been a strong advocate for the Waterloo community, fighting for strategic investments in public education, public health care, and for inclusive, responsive mental health supports. She served as Chair and Trustee with the Waterloo Region District School Board for nearly 10 years.

As an MPP, Catherine was instrumental in the passage of Rowan’s Law – to protect young athletes who are dealing with concussion – plus missing persons legislation, and Fairness for Ontario Realtors.

In September 2022, Catherine re-introduced her Till Death Do Us Part Act, to enshrine in legislation the rights of senior couples to remain together in long-term care homes and campuses. In April 2024, she introduced Lydia’s Law(Bill 189: Justice for Sexual Assault Survivors), to address the growing number of sexual assault cases that are dismissed in Ontario.
