NDP has solutions to prevent ambulance offload delays in Cambridge

Published on January 9, 2024

WATERLOO - NDP MPP Catherine Fife (Waterloo) is speaking out after a Waterloo man waited 11 hours for care due to ambulance offload delays – a growing occurrence in Ontario as Ford withholds billions instead of investing in our health care system.

“The Conservatives seem content with a health care system that they helped to break, but everyone else is bearing the cost,” said Fife. “It’s heartbreaking to see someone in our community wait so long for care, especially when we have the resources available to support our exhausted health care workers as they help our community.”

A recent survey of hospital workers found that nearly half are thinking of leaving the profession, reporting poor mental health and exhaustion due to their working conditions. 70 per cent said that hospitals were too poorly staffed to deliver quality care to patients.

“Our health care workers have sent a clear request to Doug Ford and the Conservatives – stop sitting on billions of dollars and invest those vital resources in our health care system,” said Fife. “We have the tools and resources available to help health care workers deliver care to our communities – we just need a leader who will take action. That's Marit Stiles and the Ontario NDP”
