To The Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS childcare services have remained open throughout the pandemic to support families with working parents; and
WHEREAS early childhood educators (ECEs) and childcare workers have been supporting frontline workers that require childcare; and
WHEREAS the COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate economic impact on working parents, in particular women; and
WHEREAS childcare will continue to play an important role in supporting working parents and ensuring an inclusive economic recovery from COVID-19; and
WHEREAS ECEs deserve financial recognition of the role they play in supporting our COVID-19 response and Ontario’s economic recovery;
We the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: To instruct the Ontario government to immediately increase ECE’s wages and provide childcare centres with additional core funding.
