FIFE, STEVENS: A win for veterans as Lest We Forget flag to fly at Queen's Park

Published on October 30, 2026

WATERLOO – Following an almost two-year effort with petitions requesting that the Lest We Forget flag be flown at Queen's Park, NDP MPP Catherine Fife (Waterloo) and MPP Jennie Stevens (St. Catharines) - the NDP's Shadow Minister for Solicitor General with responsibility for Veterans, Legions and Military Affairs - secured a commitment from the Premier's office that the flag will be flown on Ontario Legislature grounds this year.

“After nearly two years of petitions from veterans and Legions across Ontario, I’m pleased that the Lest We Forget Flag will finally fly at Queen’s Park this Remembrance Day," said MPP Fife. "I'm very pleased that Ontario will recognize this important symbol of remembrance, and I know that veterans will appreciate this sign of respect.

"This effort began with veteran Donald Eenkooren, from Kitchener-Conestoga and grew into a provincewide call for recognition. Today is a meaningful win for our veterans, their families and everyone committed to honouring those who served and sacrificed for our country.”

"No flag or commemorative statement will ever be enough to repay the debt we owe our Veterans," added MPP Stevens. "I'm very pleased that this act of respect for their sacrifice and incredible courage, the Lest We Forget Flag will finally be flown outside the legislature."
