The lack of affordable housing affects millions of Ontarians, and based on the Fall Economic Statement, this government has given up on addressing it.
Housing starts are down. Again. The government has cut its own target to 81,000, which is nowhere near the 125,000 needed to hit its target of 1.5 million new homes by 2031.
To make matters worse, the government hasn’t even tried to access the Fed’s $250 million to address the urgent issue of encampments in Ontario.
According to its own figures, this government is failing. It can’t even hit its own targets; in fact, it’s making things worse.
- 30,000 children need mental health care;
- 83,000 are still waiting to access Autism services;
- 234,000 people are homeless in Ontario.
