OPEN LETTER: Support Green Acre Park Residents

Published on August 10, 2020

The following letter was submitted to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Re: Green Acre Park

Monday August 10, 2020

Dear Minister Clark,

I am writing to you today to share the concerns of residents of Green Acre Park in my riding of Waterloo. Many Waterloo residents live in travel trailers at Green Acre Park, calling it home for ten months of the year. For the two months that the park is closed, these residents travel to warmer climates.

This year, however, with the COVID-19 pandemic closing our border with the United States and with travel to other destinations severely limited, residents of Green Acre Park would like assurances from the provincial government that they will be able to stay at Green Acre Park all year.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, people should be able to shelter in place. It keeps them and our broader community safe. With the fall months quickly approaching, a prompt response to this letter would be appreciated. I would also be happy to discuss this with you further.

Sincerely,

Catherine Fife, MPP
