To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS the Family Responsibility Office is designed to ensure accountability amongst families supporting their children
WHEREAS there are roughly 54,000 cases of non-compliance in Ontario.
WHEREAS it is unreasonable to expect a parent who is providing primary care for their children to locate and monitor the compliance of the payor, particularly in cases where there is a history of abuse.
WHEREAS the Family Responsibility Office does not separate their enforcement actions within their budget, leaving no means for determining how resources are distributed amongst enforcement actions.
AND WHEREAS tracking case statistics can result in more efficient resource allocation and development of best practices, as well as contribute to a better understanding of the effects of the parallel economy.
We the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as Follows: Identify the types of enforcement actions as separate line items within the Family Responsibility Office budget, including funds specifically designated towards search and locate enforcement actions, to alleviate these responsibilities from those providing primary care.
