WHEREAS Ontario has the lowest per-student post-secondary funding in Canada;
WHEREAS publicly funded colleges and universities are essential to building a strong, resilient and labour-ready workforce that can meet market demands;
WHEREAS investments in post-secondary institutions are necessary to ensure stable, sustainable, and equitable access to high quality post-secondary education; and
WHEREAS massive layoffs, numerous program closures and service cuts are having detrimental effects on students, staff, and faculty alike;
Therefore we the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to direct the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security to permanently increase base funding for Ontario’s colleges and universities in order to stabilize the sector and ensure equitable access for all.
