To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS licences that expired during COVID-19 must be renewed by February 28, 2022; and
WHEREAS there is a backlog of over 300 000 cases; and
WHEREAS people are unable to book road test appointments prior to the February 28, 2022 deadline; and
WHEREAS access to a driver’s licence is a condition for many people’s employment; and
WHEREAS there is only one DriveTest centre serving the entire Waterloo Region;
We the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: To instruct the Ontario government to address the backlog by opening a temporary DriveTest site in Waterloo Region.
